La cultura popular es el escenario que moldea donde vivimos, nos movemos y somos. En las canciones, películas, novelas, memes y series, se evidencian convicciones y preguntas punzantes de nuestra generación. La cultura popular es una liturgia secular: el terreno donde se labra la identidad personal y la memoria colectiva, el plato donde se ensayan escenarios de posibles futuros. 

La teología del siglo XXI se ve en la titánica tarea de establecer una mediación entre sus certezas fundacionales y las frenéticas experiencias que nos rodean. Como cada generación cristiana a lo largo de la historia, nos vemos ante el desafío de volver a representar —en un escenario nuevo y ante desafíos desconocidos— la antigua historia de la salvación. 

Teología Pop es el fruto de las búsquedas y los hallazgos de una generación ecléctica, curiosa, hiperconectada. Recupera la polifonía de voces jóvenes que brotan desde los rincones de toda Iberoamérica: 21 ensayos que hablan desde y hacia el siglo XXI. Es un testimonio de la fe de una generación que se siente a gusto por igual entre textos milenarios y pantallas táctiles. La reflexión teológica —escrita por las nuevas generaciones, desde el Sur global y en nuestra propia lengua—está vivita y coleando.

Por ser un libro firmado por muchas manos, conviven aquí todo tipo de miradas y preguntas. Esa multiplicidad es el reconocimiento de que el Espíritu sopla donde quiere (y la Iglesia no puede prescindir de esa gracia multiforme). 

Pop Theology

Pop culture permeates how we live, move and in songs, movies, novels, memes and TV shows, the convictions and the most piercing questions of our generation are evident. Pop culture is a secular liturgy: the terrain where personal identity and collective memory are carved out, the set where the scenarios of possible futures are rehearsed.

Twenty-first century theology is faced with the titanic task of establishing a mediation between its foundational certainties and the frenetic experiences that surround us. Like every Christian generation throughout history, we are challenged to reenact—in a new setting and in the face of unknown challenges—the old story of salvation.

Pop Theology is the fruit of the searches and discoveries of an eclectic, curious, hyperconnected generation. It recovers the polyphony of young voices that sprout from the corners of all Ibero-America: 21 essays that speak from and towards the 21st century. It is a testimony of the faith of a generation that feels at ease among millenary texts and touch screens alike. Theological reflection —written by the new generations, from the global south and in our own language- is alive and kicking.

Being a book signed by many hands, all kinds of looks and questions coexist here. This multiplicity is the recognition that the Spirit blows where it wills (and the Church cannot do without this multiform grace).
