El don del Espíritu Santo y su poder en la iglesia por el Dr. Gary Shogren pretende explorar la doctrina del Espíritu Santo.

Específicamente su persona, la relación entre la iglesia apostólica y la de hoy en día, sus dones y su obra en la formación de la iglesia. Se lleva a cabo por medio de investigación exegética, teológica e histórica.

Un libro académico pero enfocado a la divulgación y a la aplicación para la iglesia de hoy y sus retos eclesiales y también socio-culturales.

El libro se divide en tres grandes bloques:

• El espíritu de Dios en textos escogidos del Nuevo Testamento.
• El espíritu en la Iglesia patrística
• El espíritu en la Iglesia de América Latina

Contiene un apéndice por Craig Keener sobre el libro Fuego extraño: el peligro de ofender al Espíritu Santo con adoración falsa de John MacArthur. El libro no es un tratamiento completo del Espíritu y sus dones, sino un acercamiento académico a los temas principales con los que el creyente de hoy se enfrenta y vive en su camino espiritual personal y también colectivo a nivel eclesial en nuestra época actual. Un libro de crítica académica constructiva, tal como nos tiene acostumbrados el Dr. Gary Shogren, sobre los temas más importante y más polémicos, como es la ausencia –o el extremo también– de la manipulación de una de las personas de la Trinidad “el Espíritu Santo.

The Gift of the Holy Spirit

The Gift of the Holy Spirit by Dr Gary Shogren, aims to explore the doctrine of the Holy Spirit.

Specifically his person, the relationship between the apostolic church and today's church, his gifts and his work in the formation of the church. It is carried out through exegetical, theological and historical research.

This is an academic book, but its focus is on the application for today's church with its ecclesial and socio-cultural challenges.

The book is divided into three blocks of essays:

• The Spirit of God in selected texts of the New Testament.
• The Spirit in the Patristic Church
• The Spirit in the Latin American Church
• Appendix: Craig Keener, A Review of John MacArthur, Strange Fire: The Danger of Offending the Holy Spirit with False Worship.

The book is not a complete treatment of the Spirit and his gifts but a scholarly approach to the major issues that today's believers face, both on a personal level and in ecclesial settings.

A book of constructive academic criticism, as Dr. Gary Shogren is at home dealing with the most important and controversial issues, such as the practical absence of the Spirit in our theology on the one hand, or the extreme manipulation of his power on the other.
